Google Reader
Here’s a list of some blogs I follow, which I usually check out through Google Reader whenever I get a free moment.
The first few blogs are some of the top personal finance (PF) blogs out there. If you found my blog before these (really??!!), I highly recommend checking them out for some quality content.
**I Will Teach You To Be Rich**
Ramit Sethi’s blog stands out in the personal finance world. Unlike most PF blogs that focus on saving every penny or finding extra income sources, Ramit dives into the psychology of money. He explores why we behave the way we do with money and how we can achieve anything we want if we use his research-backed techniques. He breaks down everything from persuasion tactics in job interviews to smart automation and time-saving tools for daily tasks. I’ve been following Ramit’s blog for about five years, and it’s impressive how he never stopped aiming higher, even after his book, “I Will Teach You To Be Rich,” became a New York Times Bestseller.
**Get Rich Slowly**
Another blog I’ve been keeping up with for years, although I now pick and choose from the different staff writers. “Get Rich Slowly” is about J.D. Roth’s journey to get out of debt and his personal growth along the way. J.D. is a fantastic storyteller, and I love the concept of getting rich slowly. He shows us that with consistent small steps, any goal is achievable.
**Fabulously Broke… in the City**
This blog was created by a charming Canadian living in the U.S. She writes about money, minimalism, food, fashion, and more. The blog feels like a casual chat with a friend and now features contributions from two other bloggers since she sold it to TFB. I used to follow other girl bloggers like ‘Mein Millions’ or ‘My Open Wallet,’ but they’ve stopped posting. While I find interesting posts now and then, I’m still on the lookout for a smart, funny, independent woman in her 20s or 30s to follow regularly.
**Budgets Are Sexy**
J. Money is awesome! He has a hilarious writing style and covers a bit of everything, from being a new dad to converting his basement into an office for his full-time blogging career. I love reading his posts!
**20Something Finance and Money Under 30**
These two blogs cater to my age group and usually have intriguing information. However, since I don’t live or work in the US, I’m not too interested in the 401(k), Roth IRA, or life insurance articles. They are great reads for making significant financial decisions when starting your career, such as negotiating salaries, buying your first home, and setting a solid financial foundation.
**The Boxcar Kids**
Written by a single mother of four who faced tough times in California during the Great Recession, this blog is wonderfully crafted. It details her life in a trailer park, managing to stay positive and educate her kids. Now, they are moving to the rural Midwest in search of self-sufficiency—should be an interesting journey!
**Life Quotes 4 You Blog**
Maintained by Jon Emge, this emerging blog offers well-written, informative articles on personal finance. Topics include auto insurance, budgeting, finance, business insurance, mortgage, and travel insurance. Jon, originally from America, moved to Liverpool due to his love for The Beatles. His writing is excellent, and I highly recommend his blog.
