Long time no blog! I’ve decided to use this quarantine period to get back into journaling and blogging, writing in a first-person voice to keep us both entertained. You might feel like you’ve missed a lot, and you’d be right! I’ll try to catch you up as we go along. In the meantime, stay safe and wash your hands.
I’ve noticed that my temper has been particularly short lately, which I’m not proud of. Normally, I’m a joy to be around (that’s sarcasm), but let’s blame it on the Coronavirus for now.
I’ve been snapping at my husband a lot over trivial things that I won’t even remember in two days. I’ve even been snapping at my adorable dogs for misbehaving. They came from the Guatemalan jungle where they were free to roam, so they’re still getting used to being on a leash and having neighbors. Kodiak barks at everyone and then wants to hug them, not realizing he’s a full-grown Great Dane and not a lap dog.
As for my husband, living in a small 300 sq ft space can feel cramped sometimes. He’s currently on leave, so we’re trying to enjoy that time together more.
What helps a lot is getting some fresh air by walking the dogs on the beach or going cycling. It leaves me feeling refreshed and more human.
But sometimes, my bad mood kicks in as soon as I wake up, whether it’s because the dog dropped its food bowl or one of my websites got hacked (not this one, but another one—it’s a major pain).
I’ve found that my attention span is shorter than usual, making it hard to focus on tasks like cleaning up a virus-infected site. If there’s background music or my husband starts talking, I just walk away, feeling frustrated.
It’s not great. I’m sure everyone’s mood has been affected lately, but it’s important to be kind to those around us. We’re all coping as best we can, and after all, we’re only human.
